CNBC|SurveyMonkey Small Business Index Q3 2017

According to the newest CNBC|SurveyMonkey Small Business Confidence Index, small business owners have mixed expectations for changes in tax policy over the course of the next 12 months: 40% say it will have no effect on their business, 31% say it will have a positive effect, and 27% say it will have a negative effect.

The higher that small business owners estimate their effective tax rate to be, the more likely they are to expect upcoming tax policy changes will positively impact their businesses. Just 14% of small business owners with the lowest tax rates expect changes to have a positive effect on their business in the next year, while 59% of those with the highest tax rates say the same.
