AAPI Data|SurveyMonkey poll: 2021 American experiences with discrimination

AAPI Data|SurveyMonkey poll: 2021 American experiences with discrimination

According to a new survey in collaboration with AAPI Data, nearly one-third (31%) of Asian Americans worry often about being the victim of hate crimes or incidents and 12% report having been victimized in this way so far this year, more than other groups.

  • Just 30% of Asians would be “very comfortable” reporting a hate crime to law enforcement, the lowest of any group
  • About two-thirds of all Asians report being asked “where are you from” with the person assuming they were not from the U.S. (64%)
  • Fully 41% have had people act as if they don't speak English
