The Modern Manager’s Summit: Key questions and answers

You asked, and we listened! There were so many great questions that came in across all sessions during the Modern Manager’s Summit that we compiled them here for you.

Does SurveyMonkey have AI tools to help analyze open-ended text responses?

We have a suite of powerful AI tools designed to make it easier than ever for you to tap into your results. Analyze with AI can analyze open-ended text responses provided they’re tagged using rule-based tagging, or manual tagging. If you have access to sentiment analysis or thematic analysis, Analyze with AI can generate sentiments and themes for deeper insights into open-ended.

Can you analyze responses across multiple surveys?

Absolutely! Multi-survey analysis allows you to combine different surveys and results into one view.

How accurate is SurveyMonkey AI analysis?

Analyze with AI provides a text explanation with each answer. Some answers include a chart or table, and you can hover over the info icon below the chart to learn how Analyze with AI got this result, and see the survey questions that Analyze with AI used to derive this answer.

You can rate the answer to tell us if it was helpful or accurate by selecting the thumbs up or thumbs down button. You can also leave a comment about your negative rating or submit your feedback through the feedback form. Your ratings help us improve Analyze with AI.

How is my data processed with AI features?

Analyze with AI uses Azure Open AI service or Open AI to generate insights about your survey. Your content isn’t used to train these third party providers’ models. Learn more about how this feature processes your data.

Avoid including sensitive or personal information in your questions – you are responsible for the information you enter in Analyze with AI. As with all AI solutions, Analyze with AI’s answers may have limitations based on the survey data or how questions are entered and reviewing results for accuracy is always best practice.

Can I create anonymous surveys?

Yes! The anonymous responses collector option lets you choose whether or not to track and store identifiable respondent information in survey results. SurveyMonkey records respondent IP addresses in backend logs and deletes them after 13 months. If you want your survey to be anonymous, be mindful not to include identifiable questions in your survey design and avoid using identifiable custom data or custom variables when sending your survey.

Check out our anonymous employee surveys guide for tips, best practices and employee experience survey templates.

Are my responses truly confidential?

Survey creators can decide to collect responses anonymously or to track respondents.

Personal information can be collected by a survey creator in two ways: (1) by expressly asking you for your personal details in the survey and (2) by configuring the survey collector options to automatically collect certain information.

How is data securely stored in SurveyMonkey?

We take our users’ security and privacy concerns seriously and strive to ensure that user data is kept secure, and that we collect only as much personal data as is required to make our users’ experience with SurveyMonkey as efficient and satisfying as possible. For more details, see our response anonymity article and Security Statement.

How do I close the loop on employee feedback once I’ve received it?

Actioning on employee feedback is so important and we have some great resources you can tap into for taking action on employee feedback. Check out our on-demand webinars, How to build a culture of trust through employee experience feedback and Unlock employee experience feedback.

How can I get more survey responses?

There are numerous factors that can impact your response rates, from question design to survey length, topic, and complexity, there’s a lot to consider! Here are some of our favorite resources to help you start capturing more responses with your surveys:

What is the minimum number of responses to get the best results?

There is no single minimum number of responses for "best" results, as it depends on your survey's margin of error and population size. A general guideline is that around 200 responses provide fairly good accuracy, while at least 100 may be needed for marginally acceptable results. You can use the SurveyMonkey sample size calculator to determine the exact number based on your specific needs

What’s the right cadence for running employee engagement and experience surveys without overwhelming them?

At SurveyMonkey, we run two in-depth engagement surveys per year and two smaller pulse check surveys to check in on our progress. Most organizations conduct larger, more in-depth surveys once or twice a year with pulse surveys are sent at a more frequent cadence. A good rule of thumb is to conduct pulse surveys every three to six months. This prevents employees from feeling overwhelmed, while also giving you enough time to acknowledge the feedback, and when possible, begin instituting changes based on their suggestions.
