CNBC|SurveyMonkey Small Business Index Q1 2019

CNBC|SurveyMonkey Small Business Index Q1 2019

More than one third of small business owners (37 percent) say their business was affected in some way by the government shutdown, but any lingering effects barely register in this quarter’s CNBC|SurveyMonkey Small Business Confidence Survey results.

The overall index score is basically unchanged from last year, coming in at 58, down a single point from Q4 2018. Presidential approval, as well, hasn’t budged among small business owners, with 56 percent approving and 43 percent disapproving of the way President Trump is handling his job doing--exactly the same as in November.

One in five (20 percent) small business owners say that, in general, federal government shutdowns are a major concern for their businesses, and another 29 percent say they are a minor concern.
