Introduction

A Local Validation Checklist helps inform applicants and agents about the type of documents and level of information required to be submitted in order for the Council to validate a planning application and/or other consents. The draft Local Validation Checklist has two components:
  1. The national requirements, such as the application form, fee and certificates.
  2. Specific local validation requirements known as the “Local List”.
The draft Local Validation Checklist can be viewed here.

The consultation will be open for a 9-week period from 14th July 2025 to 12 September 2025.

After the consultation period, the Local Planning Authority will consider all the comments received and amend the Local Validation Checklist as appropriate. Once approved, this will form the basis on which planning applications are deemed valid by City of York Council.
