Solid Waste Collection Contract Survey

The City of Poulsbo is planning to contract out all garbage, recycling, and yard/food waste collection to a private company, starting March 1, 2027. Our goal is to get the best contract for the lowest price to customers. We want to hear from the community with your thoughts and ideas. 8.City of Poulsbo currently provides garbage service on all holidays. Most garbage haulers are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day and collect the day after the holiday. Are you willing to pay an additional fee to continue to have garbage collected on holidays?
9.City of Poulsbo currently provides a residential clean up program where residents can request a dumpster to be provided temporarily at no-cost for removal of extra garbage each year. Are you willing to pay an additional fee to continue this program?
10.The City does not currently provide curbside collection of bulky items such as appliances, furniture, mattress sets, and treadmills. Customers are required to hire an independent hauler or self-haul to the transfer station. Are you willing to pay an additional fee to receive an annual no-cost curbside bulky item collection with your garage service?

12.The City currently does its best to resolve missed pickups when customers forget to set out their cart on-time or it wasn’t properly prepared. Most haulers require customers to pay a fee for a return trip or wait until the next collection day. What would you prefer in the future contract?
