Level of Service for bicycling and walking are graded (similar to a school grading system) based on a feeling of safety and comfort.  Level of Service A has the greatest level of safety and comfort and Level of Service F has the lowest level of safety and comfort.

In the following questions, please tell us your expectations for Level of Service for bicycling and walking facilities in Shelby County.
Consider the following general constraints when making your selections:
  • Level of Service A - High cost to implement and long timeframe to implement as significant improvements such as sidewalks, paved shoulders, and widening and paving of the road would be required to achieve this level of service
  • Level of Service B - Moderately high cost to implement and moderately long timeframe to implement
  • Level of Service C - Moderate cost to implement and moderate timeframe to implement
  • Level of Service D - Moderately low cost to implement and moderately short timeframe to implement
  • Level of Service E/F - Low cost to implement and short timeframe to implement as little to no improvements would be required to achieve this level of service
