The City of Cotati is updating the Santero Way Specific Plan (SWSP). First adopted in 2001, the plan lays out a roadmap for developing a nearly 25-acre area around the Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) station.

The SWSP originally envisioned more office and businesses in the area. In response to changing economic and community needs, the updated plan will allow more residential-focused development and significantly more housing opportunities within walking distance of the SMART station, while still encouraging a mix of uses and neighborhood-serving retail, services and community oriented uses in the area.
