2.Brief description of the training and participant eligibility requirements
The Futures Hub: National Security College, Australian National University, in partnership with Australia Awards Cambodia, will provide 2 full days training on futures thinking and analysis to Australia Alumni in Cambodia.
About the service provider: The Futures Hub sits within the National Security College at the ANU and is a whole of government and whole of nation resource to support thinking, planning and policy work through examining strategic futures relevant to national security. The Hub provides a standing capacity to convene research and dialogue on projects bridging government and the wider national security community to capture and reflect the highest standard of thinking and analysis relevant to security futures.
About the training:
This training aims to provide participants with an understanding of the key principles of futures thinking, a range of futures tools that can be applied to policy analysis, and practical experience applying some of these techniques to real world and relevant policy topics.
At the completion of the course:
It is expected participants will be able to:
1. Explain the key principles of futures thinking, and key traps to avoid
2. Apply futures thinking tools to develop multiple useful future scenarios for policy issues
3. Use scenarios to identify key implications, risks and opportunities, and text policy options
4. Explain key steps to implement and consolidate futures thinking approaches in public sector and other organisations
The course will be delivered in English; therefore, high English language proficiency is required.
Teaching/learning approach
The teaching approach will leverage and build expertise to achieve real world impact, incorporating a variety of formats and perspectives. The program will provide a varied learning experience that caters to the unique requirements of adult learners.
At the end of the training, participants who engage fully will receive a Certification of Completion.

Who is eligible:
1. any Cambodian who has graduated from an Australian university, either through Australia Awards Cambodia, self-funded, university-funded, or other source of funding, and participants in Australia Awards Cambodia Short-Term awards – both Short Courses (SCs) and Informal Learning Opportunities (ILOs) - who can demonstrate high English language proficiency.
2. must be in a mid- to senior-level managers role.
3. must be a citizen of Cambodia
4. must be able to participate in all the nominated course activities at the time and for the duration proposed
5. must be committed on complete all the course assessments
Alumni living with disability, from remote and provincial areas, from the LGBTIQA+ community, and from Indigenous, ethnic minorities and other marginalised groups are encouraged to apply. Support, in the form of ‘reasonable adjustments’, will be provided to participants living with disabilities.
