Consultation form: General Paediatrics Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) programs (October-December 2025)

Consultation on draft Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) programs for General Paediatrics

This consultation on revised draft Learning, Teaching and Assessment programs for General Paediatrics is an opportunity for all RACP members and other stakeholders to comment on proposed changes to training.

The new curriculum consists of Curriculum Standards, that outline what trainees need to learn and establish a benchmark for trainee competence, and Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) programs, which outline the requirements for how trainees will learn and be assessed.

The Curriculum Standards for Advanced Training in General Paediatrics have been finalised and published on the College website.

This consultation specifically relates to the draft LTA programs. It is recommended to read the draft LTA programs in conjunction with the Curriculum Standards.

Training in rural, regional and remote training settings
Rural paediatric training is an important part of general paediatrics training, as reflected in the specific learning goals (EPA and Knowledge Guide) and learning theme within proposed new curriculum.

Work to strengthen and support rural training pathways and increase incentives and flexibility to encourage rural training, rather than a mandatory time-based requirement, is progressing and ongoing.

For now, the current mandatory time-based requirement for a rural rotation remains within the curriculum.

The information about this requirement is detailed in learning theme 2, Rural paediatrics and providing high level paediatric care for patients from rural and remote areas.

How to give feedback
We recommend that you:
  • Review the draft LTA programs, in conjunction with the finalised Curriculum Standards
  • Rate the extent to which you agree that the draft learning and assessment requirements are clear and achievable
  • Be specific on what you think should be changed

Why give feedback?
This is your opportunity to:
  • Have your say on the proposed Learning, Teaching and Assessment programs to help shape the future of General Paediatrics training
  • Tell us what works for you
  • Claim CPD hours for the time you spend reviewing the LTA programs

All feedback will be considered by the Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand Advanced Training Committees in General Paediatrics and used to inform further development and refinement of the new curriculum.

This form will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and will close at 9:00AM AEDT Monday, 1 December 2025.

Completion of this feedback form is entirely voluntary. All data will be de-identified and/or reported in aggregate. By proceeding to the questions you are providing your informed consent to participate. Your responses will be used to refine the draft curriculum, help plan implementation and for evaluation purposes.

Thank you in advance for your feedback. If you have questions, or would prefer to respond with a written submission, please contact curriculum@racp.edu.au.
