2025 Irene Robinson Marshall & Dr. Dan Marshall Scholarship

Students are invited to apply for the:

Irene Robinson Marshall & Dr. Dan Marshall Scholarship Award
· University of Hartford student who has demonstrated financial need
· Award: $1,000 scholarship

As a memorial to his dearly departed wife, Dr. Dan Marshall, donor and friend of The Women's Advancement Initiative (WAI), established the Irene Robinson Marshall Scholarship Fund. This memorial fund will perpetuate Irene’s memory and keep her vision and values alive forever for the students it will support as they pursue their college education, often despite significant challenges.

Known for her generosity, resilience, and devotion, Irene had a love of theater, dancing, opera, and service to her community. She was always ready with a wink or kind word for anyone—a class act all the way and simply a legendary lady. Dr. Dan and his family know that Irene would have rejoiced to know the good that this memorial will do in her honor. A gastroenterologist in Bloomfield, Connecticut, Dr. Dan was the youngest doctor in America when he graduated from Northwestern University School of Medicine in 1947, and he was the oldest continuing practicing physician in the country when he retired in his 90s.

Please note that awardees will be responsible for writing a thank you letter to Dr. Dan Marshall and attending a dinner with him on Monday, December 1, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on campus.
