We want to hear from you! To ensure this vision is reflective of range of perspectives and experiences, California educational leaders are seeking input from families, students, educators, and community members to help shape a Portrait of a Graduate/Learner. This portrait will describe the skills and knowledge our students need to thrive in school, career, and life. This Portrait of a Graduate/Learner will serve as a guiding vision for the California State Board of Education.

The world is changing rapidly. Knowledge is exploding, technologies are evolving, and an estimated 30% of jobs will be eliminated or dramatically changed by AI in just the next 5 years. What skills and learning goals do students need to ensure they can adapt to the ever-changing landscape? Common support for these skills can serve as a North Star for state policy makers to guide curriculum, assessment, and accountability decisions.

Important to Know: Any Portrait adopted by the State Board would NOT create new requirements for local school districts. It would solely inform and guide the State Board's own decision-making and policy about curriculum, assessment, and accountability.
