Tracking the impact of COVID-19 & advocating for the tourism industry

Purpose of Data Collection
The Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO) is conducting a survey to collect up-to-date information on the current challenges facing tourism business operations as the COVID-19 situation is rapidly evolving with the spread of the Omicron variant.

After 21 months of closures, restrictions, job losses, layoffs, revenue losses, and mounting debt, the tourism industry faces a long process of recovering and rebuilding. With rising COVID-19 cases driven by the Omicron variant and the return of several province-wide public health restrictions, the road to recovery has recently become more challenging.

The purpose of this survey is to understand the impact of the Omicron variant, related restrictions, and what Ontario’s tourism businesses need to recover and rebuild in 2022. We seek your assistance in providing this high-level reporting so that we can advocate on your behalf.

Confidentiality Protocol

The data collected will NOT include identifying information, such as company name. The data collected here will also be used to inform other levels of government, and to provide the media with information on the scale and scope of the COVID-19 impact on the industry.
