School Start Time Survey

The Clark County School District (District) is considering a districtwide shift of all start times by 30 minutes for the 2026–2027 school year. The District is exploring this possibility with the goal of creating a schedule that better serves our community, while also ensuring the change has minimal impact on our budget. As we move forward, we are seeking input from parents/guardians, students, and staff. Please reference the 2025–2026 Bell Schedule.

Research shows that starting school later in the morning has significant benefits for adolescents. Teens experience improved sleep quality and duration, aligning more closely with their natural sleep-wake cycles. This leads to increased alertness during the school day, which directly supports stronger academic performance. Additionally, later start times are associated with better mental health outcomes, including reduced stress, lower rates of depression and anxiety, and improved overall emotional well-being.
