Grant Funding Application for Mental Health First Aid Maryland

This application seeks to provide grant-funded financial assistance for Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Instructor Training to a diverse cohort of candidates dedicated to improving mental health support in historically marginalized and/or prioritized communities across Maryland.

With hundreds of individuals awaiting funding for instructor training over the past few years, this application aims to expedite the identification of instructors who can deliver vital mental health knowledge and skills to key communities.

  • Please note that MHAMD's grant funding is limited and may change each year.
  • Applications will be accepted twice a year in May and November.

This application process is designed to facilitate a more comprehensive evaluation of potential candidates, ensuring that we identify individuals who are best positioned to reach those who need it most. We recommend utilizing the provided evaluation criteria and justifications sheet to pre-write your responses, as corrections cannot be made once the application is submitted.

While this grant will cover the costs associated with instructor training, please note that there is an ongoing costs to deliver the MHFA curriculum, which includes the cost of manuals/processing guides and other training materials.

We encourage candidates who are unable to secure funding through MHAMD to explore alternative funding sources, such as local health departments, community centers, philanthropic organizations, or employee sponsorship. By diversifying funding streams, we can ensure that a wider array of instructors is equipped to promote mental health awareness and support throughout the state.

Thank you for your commitment to enhancing mental health education and support in Maryland. We look forward to your application and the opportunity to collaborate in making a difference in our communities.
