The program committee of the Association of University Presses seeks your proposals and suggestions for the 2019 annual meeting, scheduled to take place June 11–13, 2019, at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center, Detroit, Michigan. Proposals may address any aspect of scholarly publishing. We especially encourage the following:
  • proposals that consider and promote discussions of diversity and inclusion: particularly ones that challenge our norms and that seek to create procedures and practices that undermine patriarchal, heteronormative, and white supremacist structures in our own organizations and in the fields we serve;
  • sessions of cross departmental interest;
  • sessions that offer takeaways applicable to presses of all sizes;
  • formats that provide a balance of structured talk and open discussion;
  • concrete/replicable ideas, practical/actionable advice, nuts and bolts;
  • innovative session formats

The program committee will strive to represent a variety of perspectives in all sessions presses of different sizes and regions, speakers and facilitators from different departments, career levels, and other variables—with racial and gender diversity being an integral part of that variety.
