NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING BY THE WAKE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS TO RECEIVE COMMENTS

CONCERNING THE RECOMMENDED FISCAL YEAR 2022 BUDGET

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the County Manager has submitted the Recommended Wake County Operating Budget for the Fiscal Year July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022 to the Wake County Board of Commissioners.  The public can review all materials related to the budget at www.wakegov.com/budget.  

The Board will hold a virtual public hearing to receive comments on the Recommended Budget on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Beginning the afternoon of May 3, the public can submit comments specifically for the budget public hearing via a special collection form on our website at www.wakegov.com/budget. The public may continue submitting comments online until Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 5 p.m. Following the close of the comment period on May 18, all comments will be posted and publicly available via wakegov.com.

The FY 2022 Recommended Budget would appropriate $2,149,682,341 for all County operations. The FY 2022 Recommended General Fund Operating Budget, which is predominantly funded by property and sales tax revenue, totals $1,565,900,000 an increase of $99,820,000 from the FY 2021 Adopted Budget. The Budget includes a property tax rate of 60.0 cents. 

The Manager’s Recommended Budget proposes that the property tax rate for the Fire Tax District, which includes most of the unincorporated areas of Wake County, as well as the Town of Wendell, increase 1.17 cents to 10.27 cents per one hundred dollars ($100) of assessed valuation.


The FY 2022 Recommended Budget is available for public inspection via the internet at www.wakegov.com/budget and from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. each weekday in the Offices of the Board of County Commissioners (Suite 4800) or Budget and Management Services (Suite 4600), Wake County Justice Center, 301 S. McDowell St., Raleigh, N.C.
