AAP Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) Year 1 Champion Application |
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), University of California, Los Angeles, and UMass Chan Medical School, is working to increase the capacity and competency of pediatricians and other pediatric health care providers to provide TIC to children and families in their communities, as part of the National Center for Relational Health and Trauma-Informed Care.
To assist with this goal, the AAP is seeking to expand its cohort of Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) Champions from a variety of practice settings and communities to:
- Serve as subject matter experts in TIC
- Support the education and training of pediatric health care providers and clinical teams in the provision of trauma-informed pediatric care
- Provide guidance and technical assistance to pediatricians, other pediatric healthcare providers, and chapters/states on implementing TIC in pediatric healthcare setting.
- Support the education and training of pediatric health care providers and clinical teams in the provision of trauma-informed pediatric care
- Provide guidance and technical assistance to pediatricians, other pediatric healthcare providers, and chapters/states on implementing TIC in pediatric healthcare setting.
Specifically, TIC Champions will be required to:
- Participate in a trauma-informed care bi-directional learning collaborative with a multidisciplinary team of subject matter experts to learn from each other and discuss case management. *
- Attend a one-day in-person training at AAP headquarters in Itasca, Illinois.
Date and Time TBD – tentative February 2026. (Travel and accommodation paid for by AAP).
- Serve as lead faculty for a cohort of a seven-session trauma-informed care ECHO
- Further educate others by delivering one TIC educational opportunity of your choice and utilize an evaluation tool. (For example, peer-to-peer presentation, grand rounds, resident training, conference, webinar, etc.)
