Safe Streets and Roads for All - Temporary Road Safety Improvement Feedback

Help make our streets and roads safer for everyone.

We're working to improve safety for everyone who uses our roads—especially for people who walk, bike, or roll. From 2017 and 2021, our region experienced 92 traffic-related deaths and over 580 serious injuries. Alarmingly, people walking, biking, and riding motorcycles—though involved in just 4% of crashes—account for 40% of all traffic deaths.

In response, we have launched a series of low-cost temporary road safety improvement projects in key areas identified through the Vision Zero Greater Portland action plan. Vision Zero is a bold, data-driven strategy to eliminate all traffic-related deaths and serious injuries by 2045. It prioritizes safe, comprehensive, and accessible transportation for everyone—especially the most vulnerable road users—by focusing on systemic solutions rather than blaming individual behavior.

These efforts aim to eliminate serious injuries and fatalities by 2045 and include strategies shaped by crash data, considerations of areas of perpetual poverty, and community concerns.

We want to hear from you.

Your feedback will help us evaluate these pilot projects and guide future improvements. Please take a few minutes to complete this short survey and share your experiences and ideas for safer streets and roads in your neighborhood now that the demonstration projects are installed.

Together, we can build a safer, more connected region for all.
