Session Proposal Instructions (Please read prior to starting application)

NAMI California is seeking proposals for presentations for our upcoming conference in Anaheim, CA, October 8 and 9, 2026.

We highly encourage session applications from presenters who are engaging speakers with an interactive style of communicating with their audience. Please keep in mind that our conference attendees represent a diversity of cultures and age ranges. They also represent various identities including but not limited to those living with serious mental challenges, caregivers and family members, mental health professionals, students, community advocates and the general public.

For the first time, this year applicants can provide the "Brief Description" of their workshop in a video or written form. Please read the instructions below before you decide which form of brief narrative description you want to provide to us.
Option A Narrative/Typed Description
In 250 words or less, please list all of the following in response to Question 4 on this application:
Brief Session Description:
What is your session about?
What will participants gain from attending (i.e. What are the Learning Outcomes?) - Please list 2-3 minimum
What practical "takeaway" will be provided? (e.g. handout, digital toolkit, interactive activity instructions, etc.)
Option B Instructions for providing narrative session description via VIDEO
Please put "N/A" in the space under question 4 and then in Question 5 enter the URL (link) to your video. Please make sure the video meets the following criteria:
Video must be no longer than 3 minutes total (videos exceeding this limit will not be viewed)
Video content must include all of the following:
Your Name
Session Title
Brief Session Description (i.e. describe what your session is about,
what participants will gain from attending your session (aka Learning Outcomes - 2-3 minimum, and any practical "takeaway" (e.g. handout, digital toolkit, interactive activity instructions, etc.)
Session Applications must be submitted by
11:45pm PT on Weds., February 4, 2026.
Applications not meeting the stated requirements will not be reviewed.

Audio Visual Needs:
NAMI California provides a screen & projector and sufficient microphones for each session. Presenters must supply their own laptop. Any additional audio/visual needs will be addressed on a case by case basis.
