Call for Workshop Proposals

On June 17-20, 2019 in Washington, DC, the National Council on Aging will convene over 800 professionals, advocates,
lawmakers, and caregivers who create solutions for older adults where they live, advising them on personal decisions for optimal health and economic security.

The three-day  Age+Action Conference will connect individuals and organizations across the country to develop more integrated partnerships and to learn from each other, all in support of older adults as they face the changing realities of aging. In 2019, NCOA will spotlight the state of women and aging in America with new research and plenaries around their experience. 

Age+Action 2019 is your opportunity to engage with professionals from across the country who are leading the way in delivering proven solutions to age well.

Who should submit a proposal?

Professionals and advocates working at the local, state, and national levels to improve the health and economic security of older adults. 

Conference attendees will be individuals connected to federal, state, and local nonprofits and government agencies; national, state, and local coalitions and associations; health care systems; corporations; funders; and more. Attendees will include current U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL) falls prevention and Chronic Disease Self-Management Education (CDSME) grantees, NCOA Benefit Enrollment Centers (BECs), Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) grantees, National Institute of Senior Center (NISC) members, and other senior center professionals. 

What should proposals include?

Proposals should include innovative concepts and models to promote aging well. Those submitting a proposal should consider the following prompts:

  • What has your work taught you that might benefit others to also learn?
  • Did this work introduce a new perspective or inspire change within your organization?
  • Did this work present a challenge or barrier that you struggled to navigate or bypass?
  • Did this work instill a deeper understanding of those you serve?
  • Did this work require taking risks that pushed your organization into uncharted territory?
  • Did this work broaden the depth of your expertise, enhance your network of partners, or help you/your organization gain a new tool/skill?

Please note: 
  • The National Council on Aging may edit presentation details and/or may suggest combining 2 or more presenters with similar focus into one session.
  • A 30-60 minute planning call may be scheduled for some speakers to clarify and review expectations; you will be notified if requested to attend such a call.
  • PowerPoint slides will be due approximately 3 weeks prior to the event and posted afterward on the NCOA website.
