APPLICATION DEADLINE:
The deadline for submissions is 11:59pm (PST) Friday, November 7, 2025. All materials must be submitted on or before this date to be considered for an award in the spring of the following year.

ELIGIBILITY
  1. Enrollment in a graduate program in biocommunication at the time of award (spring of the following year).
  2. Completion of at least one full year of the curriculum.

AWARD LEVELS:
The Scholarship Committee selects award winners and their award tiers. The number of winners and award amounts will vary from year to year and is at the discretion of the Vesalius Trust.
  • Vesalius Trust Student Research Grants awarded to applicants whose projects show evidence of merit, based on the judging guidelines.
  • Vesalian Scholar Awards awarded to the top applicants whose projects show evidence of significant merit.
  • Alan Cole & Joyce McGill Scholarships awarded to the students with the proposed projects of the most merit.

REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS FOR ALL APPLICANTS*:
  1. Student Application: project description** (4-5 pages), resume or CV (2-page limit), official graduate school transcript.
  2. Faculty Advisor form submission.***
  3. Content Advisor form. This content advisor/preceptor/subject matter expert should be someone outside of your medical illustration faculty.***
*Guidelines for Joint/Group Projects: Each applicant must submit a full application to be individually considered for a VT award. Not all students on a joint or group project need to apply for other student(s) to be considered for an award. The Scholarship Committee will evaluate each application individually based on their own merit.

** If the applicant is collaborating on a joint or group project, the project description in the application should reflect the portion of the project that the applicant was responsible for.
