Welcome to City of Vaughan's Ward Boundary Study Public Feedback Survey #1

The City of Vaughan is undertaking a comprehensive review of the city’s ward boundaries. A ward is a geographical division of a city or town for administrative or political purposes. A Ward Boundary Review is a task conducted on behalf of a municipality to assess whether the present wards constitute an effective, equitable and democratic system of representation and, if not, to propose alternatives. The overall objective of a ward boundary review is to establish fair and equitable representation of the citizens at the city council table. This review is about the five local councillor wards and not about the mayor or three regional councillors because they are not elected from wards.
Vaughan is committed to involving citizens, businesses and stakeholders in conversations about municipal decisions that interest and/or impact them, including this Ward Boundary Review. Due to COVID-19, engagement needs to be socially distanced, so this review relies on online participation like this survey.
This survey is important because your ideas help the consulting team to understand two things so they can develop options for the future that make sense:
  • the strengths and weaknesses of the current boundaries, and
  • which of the design considerations are most important to citizens.
To help you prepare to answer this survey, the consulting team wrote a background paper. It is available for you to read and share on vaughan.ca/wardboundary.

The survey is quite short and will take approximately 5 minutes to complete and will be available until January 22, 2021. Please share it with friends, family, and neighbours.

After the consulting team develops options there will be another round of public consultations in March 2021.
