In the summer of 2019, 16,000 libraries across the country will celebrate space exploration in their summer reading programs. The slogan “A Universe of Stories” was chosen by library professionals to help inspire children of all ages to dream big, believe in themselves, and create their own story. The Collaborative Summer Library Program and STAR Net are partnering to share science and technology-related resources and in preparation for this theme, STAR Net will be providing free activities, programming materials and training to support library programs on the following topics:

• Moon: Apollo Moon Landing 50th Anniversary
• Planets
• Scale Models of the Solar System
• Constellations
• Space exploration
• Engineering
• Space science phenomena
• Astronauts and health in space
• Our sky
• Lunar phases

If you’re interested in getting important news and resource notifications for 2019’s Summer Learning Program, register your library to qualify for the benefits listed below.

– A monthly newsletter curated with valuable resources and opportunities
– 2000 NASA tactile books (Getting a Feel for Lunar Craters) will be distributed
– 800 Scholastic science books (Luciana Vega, etc.) will be distributed
