Why take the Bus?
According to the American Automobile Association (AAA) 2018 edition of Your Driving Costs:  How Much Are You Really Paying to Drive? the cost per mile to own and operate an automobile ranges from approximately 16-20 cents depending on the type of vehicle and the number of miles driven. These costs take into account vehicle payments, insurance, and fuel costs. A commuter from the Woodlands to the Energy Corridor would drive approximately 50 miles one way, or 100 miles round trip. At 18 cents per mile on average the round trip would cost $18.00, for an annual cost of $4,680.00 (260 days)  By way of contrast, if a commuter were to take the park & ride every day at $6.50 per trip, their annual cost to travel to work would be $3,380.00 (260 days/year x $13.00/day). And, in many cases that cost can be shared by an employer. For more information click here.
