Information and consent sheet

This study is being undertaken by Karsten Dijkstra, a master's student in Sport Management and Digitalisation as part of his master's dissertation, which may be published in an academic journal at a later time. The research has been positively reviewed by Lunex University's Research Ethics Committee (23_I_4910019).

The purpose of this study is to find out how football fans view current issues surrounding climate change and sportswashing “Sportswashing refers to reputation laundering through sport. The premise is that by investing in sport a nation-state, company or individual can alter their public perception for the better (Carosella, 2022).”

You were selected to take part in this study as you are a fan who is 18 years or older, who supports a football club playing in one of Europe’s top 6 domestic leagues (as per UEFA ranking 2023/2024). All information which is collected about you during the course of the research will be kept strictly confidential. Your anonymised data may be used in future research.

The questionnaire will take between 5-10 minutes to finish. Please take the time to carefully read the questions and statements, as this is important for the results of this study.
