Scottish Care Nursing Workforce Survey 2026

Introduction
Registered nurses are essential to delivering safe, high-quality social care, providing clinical expertise and leadership across services. As the sector continues to evolve, it is vital that social care nursing is recognised, supported and sustainably planned for.

This survey will help Scottish Care build a current picture of the registered nursing workforce across Scotland. It focuses on workforce capacity, recruitment, retention, development, progression and safe staffing, helping us target support and inform future workforce planning, education and skills development.

We ask all social care services that employ registered nurses to take part, regardless of role or setting. Your input is key to ensuring social care nursing is visible, valued and reflected in future planning.

All responses are confidential and will be reported in a way that protects individuals and services. Please complete the survey as fully as possible; if a question does not apply, you may leave it blank or add a comment.

Please complete this survey by Monday 3 August.
