Background
An Official Community Plan (OCP) is a wide-ranging Plan that sets the long-term vision for the community. The OCP outlines the goals and directions to manage the physical, environmental, economic, social, and cultural development of the RM. The purpose of the OCP is to manage the growth of your RM and identify what the community members considers important.
The Zoning Bylaw is made up of the policies that fulfill the goals and objectives included in the OCP and includes a Zoning Map that separates the community into different land use districts (ex. residential, industrial, commercial, etc.). The Zoning Bylaw identifies the type of development that can locate in those districts and guides land use and development. The goal of the Zoning Bylaw is to maintain the health and safety of the RM, avoid land use conflicts, and ensure municipal services are provided in a cost-effective manner.
