The
Mpls Downtown Improvement District (DID) provides a range of services that help make downtown Minneapolis cleaner, safer, and more vibrant - including Ambassador outreach, street cleaning, greening and beautification, and community programming. Until recently, these services have been funded exclusively by commercial property owners. However, a 2023 change in Minnesota state law now allows multiunit residential properties to be included in Special Service Districts like the DID.
This means residents like you could soon have a formal role in shaping and funding DID services - and a stronger voice in how your downtown neighborhood is managed. Before any changes are made, we want to hear from you. This short survey will help us understand which services matter most to you, what you'd be willing to contribute, and how you'd like to be represented in district decisions. Your input will directly inform whether and how residential inclusion moves forward.
