Location and Host Organization:
Micah 6 Community, Pontiac, MI
Micah 6 Community is currently experiencing a season of tremendous growth with construction near completion for the Webster Community Center and its grand opening tentatively scheduled for February 27th, 2026. Within Webster, there is space allocated for Sprout Fresh Food Store, which is presently located right across the street in a standalone building. Sprout is an extension of the community gardens, which consists of 1.25 acres and three greenhouses. Each year, a few thousand pounds of fresh food is harvested that is available to neighbors free of charge if they come to the greenhouse or available for a modest price if buying it at Sprout.

The Urban Conservation & Community Fellow will play a vital role in helping shift Sprout from its current location and establish its operations in the Webster Community Center.

A key priority is maintaining food stock in the Webster Community Market so the Urban Conservation & Community Fellow will work alongside the Farm Director in the greenhouses to grow a wide variety of produce, help engage with volunteer groups throughout the year, plan more extensive projects for visiting missions groups that stay onsite for multiple days, and build relationships with local farmers to make other food sources readily available in the Webster Community Market.
