Help us design bus rapid transit service between Gorham, Westbrook and downtown Portland!

Bus rapid transit, or BRT, is more frequent, reliable, and easier to use than regular bus service. This will be Greater Portland’s first BRT project. BRT includes:
  • Frequent service (ex: running every 10 minutes)
  • All-day service on weekdays and weekends
  • Faster trip times
  • Improved waiting areas at stations
  • Real-time bus-arrival information at select stations

Section A: Where do you live and work?
1.Where do you live or stay?(Required.)
2.Where do you travel most often to work or school?
Section B: The Proposed Route
This route was selected through a collaborative planning process that included municipal leaders, residents, and the region’s planning agencies. The 2023-2024 Gorham-Westbrook-Portland Rapid Transit Study resulted in approval of the route in winter 2024, allowing the project to move into the current preliminary design phase.
3.Do you have comments about the proposed route?
Section C: Stations and Infrastructure
BRT systems offer stops with enhanced features and are referred to as BRT stations.
A computer-generated graphic rendering of a 60’ articulated bus arriving at a bus station. The bus’s headsign reads “Westbrook” and it is driving in a bus lane. The bus station has many of the features of bus rapid transit, including real-time arrival signs, rider information (including maps), off-board fare payment, and a large bus shelter. The bus and shelter are colored with light blue and light green. There are several shadow-like characters in the rendering who are waiting at the stop or getting off the bus. A wi-fi-type symbol appears above the bus, indicating that it has transit signal priority.
4.When the Metro BRT begins operations, which of the following will be most true for you?
5.Tell us what is most important to you as we consider spacing for stations.
6.What features are most important to you at a BRT station? Pick your top three:(Required.)
7.What matters more to you?
8.BRT service typically uses bus lanes to make the bus faster, more reliable, and a travel option that is more competitive with driving. Bus lanes can also impact other road users; for example, by limiting space for parking or driving. How would you feel about some sections on this BRT route becoming bus lanes?
9.Do you have any other comments about stations?
