The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI), in partnership with the Wilde Ganzen Foundation and the Change the Game Academy programme, is delighted to introduce a distinctive Match Funding scheme tailored for civil society organisations based in Ghana.
Across West Africa, and particularly in Ghana, civil society organisations face significant challenges in safeguarding their freedoms, building resilience, and advancing towards long-term sustainability. Global trends point to a steady decline in donor funding, driven by rising nationalism and growing donor fatigue. Alongside these challenges, system change initiatives are increasingly advocating for a reimagining of current development practices, championing community-centred and community-led approaches in which communities demonstrate ownership and legitimacy in development processes, and where all stakeholders are encouraged to contribute to the shared resource pool for development.
Since 2017, the Change the Game Academy, in partnership with WACSI, has delivered its three flagship training programmes in Ghana: Local Fundraising, Advocacy for Change, and Social Accountability. These programmes are designed to enhance the impact of civil society organisations in advocacy, strengthen their ability to hold governments accountable, and diversify their resource streams, all in service of building a more robust, resilient, and sustainable civil society that is capable of responding to community development needs, alongside and with the communities they serve.
To further strengthen organisations and their efforts to mobilise resources locally and foster genuine community ownership, WACSI, in collaboration with Wilde Ganzen, is proud to launch the third cohort of the Match Funding project for organisations in Ghana.
