This survey is intended to gather feedback on proposed tasks and supervision levels for Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) in Michigan in an ideal practice setting. All tasks would be performed under the direction of a supervising veterinarian and would not include diagnosis, prognosis, or prescribing.
Scope Clarification
The tasks included in this survey:
● Represent common and high-impact clinical procedures
● Are not intended to be a complete list of all duties an LVT may perform
● Veterinary Assistants are prohibited from performing the tasks
Tasks not specifically listed:
● May still be performed by an LVT
● Are determined by the supervising veterinarian based on:

Definition of Practice
For the purposes of this survey, performance of the listed tasks by an LVT is considered the practice of veterinary technology.
Supervision Requirement
All tasks must be performed:
● Under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian
● Within the defined supervision levels provided
