Derry City and Strabane District Council have been delivering The Life Project since 2017 in partnership with NWRC, PHA, local primary schools and community groups.
Planting trees helps make the city and district a healthier place to live by improving air quality by absorbing harmful gases (like carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide) and capturing particulate matter (like dust and smoke). Trees also release clean oxygen into the atmosphere, help reduce urban heat and tackle climate change.
The Council continues to work closely with local schools which collect acorns from oak trees in the autumn for planting in local community nurseries. The Councils Registration Service (Births, Deaths, Marriages, partnerships) offer tree saplings to mark these significant life events and Community Groups assist with both growing and planting tree saplings across the district.
The questionnaire seeks the views of our communities on the project including improvement opportunities.
