The existing Town of Lansing Zoning Code will be updated to align with recent initiatives such as the 2018 Comprehensive plan, 2023 Agricultural Zoning District, 2024 Open Space Conservation Plan, and the 2025 Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Gap Analysis. The purpose of this effort is to simplify, modernize, and streamline the Town of Lansing’s Zoning Code, while codifying the policies and recommendations from recent planning efforts and incorporating development best practices through smart growth. Through the code update, the Town aims to achieve the following:
• Ensure a safe and healthy community;
• Remove barriers to investment and support business growth and retention;
• Help address community housing needs;
• Plan for reinvestment and redevelopment;
• Enhance and protect the lakefront, parks, and open spaces;
• Enhance and protect the lakefront, parks, and open spaces;
• Shape and enhance the Town's hamlets;
• Implement smart growth development practices for long-term economic and environmental sustainability; and
• Reformat and reorganize the code for ease of use by all.
