How to enter:
• Consider the judging criteria.
• Choose ONE photo to enter - make sure it is your best one. You can only upload one photograph per entry.
• Check the eligibility criteria. The competition is only open to UK residents who are 16 years old and under.
• All entries should be submitted by a parent/guardian. Complete this form and upload your child’s entry by 11:59pm on 23 August, 2026.

How many times can you enter: You can only enter once.

How many winners? There will be three winners who will get prizes as follows:

1st prize - winning photograph on the front cover of issue 105 of The Week Junior Science+Nature; plus Canon EOS R50 twin kit, Canon SELPHY CP1500 photo printer, nature book bundle and x2 complimentary tickets to The Photography and Video Show 2027.

2nd prize - Canon EOS R100 with lens, Canon SELPHY QX20 printer, nature book bundle and x2 complimentary tickets to The Photography and Video Show 2027.

3rd prize - Canon EOS R100 with lens, nature book bundle and x2 complimentary tickets to The Photography and Video Show 2027.

How many runners up? There will also be seven runners up who will get the nature book bundle and x2 complimentary tickets to The Photography and Video Show 2027.

Who are the judges? Our independent judges are Ellie Rothnie and Aneeshwar Kunchala. They will be joined by editorial staff from The Week Junior Science+Nature.

What are they looking for? The judges will be looking for well-composed, colourful and creative images that show beauty in nature.
  • A photo that is suitable for the front cover of Science+Nature – bright, dynamic, interesting and be in focus.
  • The judges are keen to see unusual and eye-catching subjects – colourful, with bold contrasts, interesting natural patterns, shapes and textures.
  • A high-quality, high-resolution image.
How we use your entry: If you send us an entry, we might show it off, for example, in our magazines, on our websites, social media, marketing materials, or our partners (the prize sponsors) might want to show it off too. You still own your work. You give us permission to do this for up to one year after the end date. You can always tell us ‘No’ if you don't want us to use your entry like this.
