Introduction

This survey is being conducted by the Image Permanence Institute at Rochester Institute of Technology and is part of a grant-funded project titled "Foundational Research to Inform Preservation Guidelines for the Creation, Collection, and Consumption of 3D Printed Objects in Museums" funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

This survey will broadly assess the collection and preservation of 3D printed objects and the use of 3D printing in preservation and access activities by professionals who work in and with collecting institutions. It will take approximately 30 minutes to complete and will be open for responses until Friday, June 3, 2022 at 11:59pm EST.

Collecting institutions interact with 3D printing in a wide range of contexts. We expect that survey respondents will have different levels of experience with 3D printing and/or 3D printed collections objects. The survey is designed to let you opt out of sections that do not pertain to your experience. Please answer questions that are relevant to your professional role to the best of your ability.

If you have not worked in or with a collecting institution but are interested in our work, we invite you to visit our website for more information: https://www.imagepermanenceinstitute.org/research/3d.html.
