Inch Cape community benefit fund - Community Survey

Have your say on how community funding should work

Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm is currently being constructed approximately 15–22km off the Angus coast. The project is expected to be fully operational in 2027.

The project will be operated and maintained from a new facility which is now under construction in the Port of Montrose by local contractor Pert Bruce. More than 50 people will work from the new facility, which will also create further indirect local roles through use of local suppliers and businesses. You can find out more about the project here: https://www.inchcapewind.com/

As part of its commitment to supporting communities, Inch Cape is consulting with people and organisations in Montrose and Ferryden & Craig about how future community benefit funding should be distributed.

A £1.9 million community benefit fund is expected to be available.

At this stage, we're asking HOW the funding should work, not WHAT it should fund.

We want to understand your views on issues such as:
  • who should be involved in making funding decisions
  • how Montrose and Ferryden should be represented
  • who should be eligible to apply
  • what types and sizes of funding should be available
  • how funding should be divided between local and wider-area projects
  • how the process can be fair, transparent and accessible
  • what the fund should ultimately aim to achieve
Community benefit funding is voluntary funding provided by the developer. It is separate from any statutory compensation associated with the wind farm and is additional to other benefits that the project may bring, such as employment, supply chain opportunities and infrastructure. This consultation is not part of the wind farm's licensing process, and taking part does not imply support for or opposition to the wind farm.

The consultation is the first stage in developing the future fund. We will use the findings from this survey, alongside discussions with local organisations and communities, to develop recommendations for how the fund should be delivered.

The survey should take around 5 minutes to complete.

At the end of this survey, there is an opportunity to suggest what you think the funding could ultimately support. While this is not the main focus of this consultation, we want to capture any strong ideas or priorities.

Please complete the survey by 23 October 2026.
Your answers are private. No personal details will be shared. If you need help with the survey, please email nickyhesketh@sksscotland.co.uk.
