Follow these tips to give your nominee the best chance of reaching the finals.

  • Focus on quality, not quantity - judges don't select finalists based on the number of nominations they receive, but on the strength of the evidence provided.
  • Include at least one specific example, case study, or outcome that demonstrates how the nominee has made a difference to a service user's or colleague's life. This is what makes a nomination stand out.
  • Read the award description carefully and make sure your examples clearly demonstrate the qualities and achievements the judges are looking for.
  • Include quotes or testimonials from service users, family members or colleagues wherever possible.
  • Write from your own experience and knowledge of the nominee. Generic descriptions such as "they always go above and beyond" are unlikely to stand out unless supported by specific examples.Judges are looking for real-life stories, achievements, and impact rather than general statements.
