Proposed Fire By-law

The City of Owen Sound is seeking public feedback on a proposed by-law to regulate fires in the City.

The proposed by-law keeps many of the same rules in the City's existing Open Air Burning By-law such as no burning garbage or toxic materials and it clarifies the difference between recreational and cooking fires. The by-law would also require brush and organic yard waste to be delivered to the City's compost site instead of being burned. The proposed by-law also allows for ceremonial fires for groups such as First Nations.

This survey will take 5 - 10 minutes. There is space at the end to provide general comments. Please provide your comments by June 30, 2017.

For more information please see the City's website or contact the Fire Chief or By-law Coordinator.
