Electrify Breck is designed to make installing cold climate heat pumps more affordable for Breckenridge residents who own deed-restricted homes within town limits. Stacked with incentives from Xcel Energy + state/federal tax credits, Electrify Breck rebates will cover 75% of your cost to install a cold climate heat pump (including electrical connections).

Not familiar with heat pumps? Learn more about them here. Not only do they heat, but they can also provide air conditioning in the summer. And because they run on electricity instead of natural gas, heat pumps are an important strategy for decreasing greenhouse gas emissions in our community (and in our state).

Heat pumps will work in all homes, but you're an even better candidate if you've already made energy efficiency upgrades and/or have solar panels. Depending upon your home's existing heating system, heat pumps may not save you money.
  • If you heat with natural gas, your utility costs in winter could go up. However, this should be offset by the heat pump's greater efficiency in shoulder seasons.
  • If you have electric baseboard heat, a heat pump is very likely to save you money on your heating bills.
  • If you have solar panels that provide more electricity than your current needs, you will further offset the cost of additional electricity use.
