In response to increasing safety concerns associated with the use of e-bikes, e-scooters, and other motorized mobility devices in our community, the City of Upper Arlington has been exploring options for establishing a program that balances safety with personal freedom, and responsibility with a baseline of requirements to ensure operator safety.

Upper Arlington City Council is scheduled to begin reviewing the proposed legislation for this program in June, with extra time built in over summer recess for further study and feedback before Council makes its final determination in the Fall. If approved, the Mobility Device Registration and Safety Program would take effect January 2027.
