Thank you for your interest in applying to the Planet Earth's Future focus group study. Please read the information below before completing the application.
We are conducting a focus group study to gather participants' views on a new documentary about the planet’s future. The focus group will take place on Friday, March 14 in Philadelphia, PA. To apply, please complete the prescreening survey below, which will ask you for basic demographic information and about your experience and perspectives regarding our planet Earth’s future. We will select 10-15 participants from the applicant pool based on several factors to ensure a diversity of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

If selected, you will be invited to participate in one full-day, in-person focus group discussion. We will be collecting surveys, taking notes of conversations, and recording the sessions. Your participation in this study is voluntary. Participation and compensation require commitment to the full session. You must be 18 or older to participate in the study. Participants will receive a $150 gift card after completing the focus group.

Participants in the focus group study will watch a 2-hour film and have the opportunity to learn about and express their views on the planet’s future. There are no foreseeable risks or discomforts to your participation.

Your responses, including (a) the demographic data collected in the prescreening survey (application), (b) information collected in worksheets and discussion notes, and (c) responses to the pre- and post-event surveys, will be anonymized. The results of this focus group may be used in reports or presentations, but your name and other identifying information will not be shared. Most results will be shared only in aggregate, and any individual comments will be anonymized.

The discussions will be recorded to allow the team to explore them more fully. All recordings will be kept in a secure location and will be used only by the team to further their understanding of the discussion. In addition, any notes taken will be secured and used only by the team for learning purposes, with all personally identifiable information removed.
