Millions of people in the UK are now juggling paid work with unpaid caring responsibilities for older, disabled or ill relatives or friends.

And with our ageing population, family members living longer with disabilities and health conditions, and later retirement ages, more of us will be working and caring for longer.

Supporting the health and wellbeing of carers in the workplace has therefore never been so important. Carers UK 2025 polling for Carers Week found that 44% of working carers developed or saw a health condition worsen while caring and a third (33%) have cancelled or postponed their own health appointments.

However, evidence from our Employers for Carers forum shows that there are ways to limit the impact of juggling work and care, and other research has also found that carers’ wellbeing improves when they are supported by carer-friendly employers.

Building on this earlier evidence, we are conducting this piece of research to improve our understanding of current wellbeing provision for carers in the workplace, identify examples of good practice and make practical recommendations on how employers and others can better support carer health and wellbeing.

In this survey, we will cover:
· Awareness of carers (and health and wellbeing impacts of caring) in your workplace
· Types of support available for carer health and wellbeing in your workplace
· The role of managers in supporting carer health and wellbeing
· Monitoring and measuring the impact of carer health and wellbeing
· Wider support for you as an employer
· About your organisation

The survey should be completed by HR professionals/senior managers on behalf of their organisation and will take around 10-15 minutes.

Please only provide ONE response per organisation.

The survey will close on Wednesday 12 November at 5pm and if you have any questions, please contact kathryn.vonstegmann@carersuk.org
