Bramcote Quarry - Public Consultation

In July 2025, Broxtowe Borough Council formally adopted the former BIFFA sand quarry and landfill site at Bramcote. The site now forms an important area of young woodland, grassland and biodiversity-rich habitats that sits alongside an existing residential community. With funding allocated for improvement works, the Council is now preparing to enhance the site's accessibility, environmental value, and visitor experience. Proposed improvements include better path surfacing, improved access points, new signage, seating and picnic areas, ecological enhancements, and measures to safeguard sensitive habitats.

The Council is also undertaking the statutory process to designate the site as a Local Nature Reserve, which will secure long-term protection for wildlife and create new opportunities for nature-based learning and recreation. Public input is essential in shaping these plans. We want to understand how you currently use the site, how accessible and inclusive it feels, and what priorities you believe should guide its future development.

This consultation also invites you to help choose a new name for the site as it transitions from its former identity as Bramcote Quarry into an accessible, nature-focused public open space.

The consultation will run from 2 March 2026 to 31 March 2026. You can take part by completing the survey online using the following link: www.surveymonkey.com/r/bramcotequarry. Alternatively, you can fill in a paper copy and return it to the Council using the pre-paid envelope provided.

Paper copies of the consultation are available at:
