Introduction

A local authority committed to reducing carbon emissions and helping to ensure the district is well adapted to the demands of a changing climate, South Kesteven District Council is constantly looking for opportunities to encourage biodiversity wherever and whenever we can. Actions undertaken to date include the introduction of new biodiverse habitats into our parks and open spaces, and changing our Grounds Maintenance regimes to be more nature positive.

Following the high level of interest in the Make Space for Nature scheme, which was awarded £40,000 in funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, an area in Wyndham Park has been identified which has the potential to deliver an extensive biodiversity project.

Responding to requests from respondents to SKDC’s annual Wyndham Park Satisfaction Surveys for an area where dogs can be exercised either on or off the lead safely and securely, the Council is proposing that the same area be fenced, to enable its use as an exercise paddock for dogs.

Located on the east side of Wyndham Park, adjacent to Sandon Road, the proposed area is just over 4000 square metres, with half dedicated to meadow creation. Please click here to view.

Please spare us a few moments to complete this survey. By telling us what you think of the proposal to set aside an area for nature in Wyndham Park which could also be used to exercise dogs off lead you will help us measure the amount of support there is for this project. It will also enable us to address any concerns you may have.

Thank you for your time.
