1. Introduction

American Association on Health and Disability

The purpose of this research project is to examine the experiences of women with disabilities in mammography and breast cancer screening. This is a research project conducted by faculty in the Occupational Therapy program at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, Dr. Sarah Mbiza, and Dr. Barbara Kornblau, Professors at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in collaboration with the American Association on Health and Disability (AAHD), via SurveyMonkey. You are invited to participate in this research project, because you are a woman with a disability, and at least 40 years of age or   you are younger than 40 years of age, but have been advised by your health care provider to have a mammogram, and you are able to complete the survey.

Your participation in this research study is voluntary. You may choose not to participate. If you decide to participate in this research survey, you may withdraw at any time. You will not be penalized if you decide not to participate in this study, or if you withdraw at any time.

The procedure involves filling an online survey that will take approximately 15 minutes. Your responses will be confidential and we do not collect identifying information such as your name, email address, or IP address. The survey questions will be about your experiences with mammograms. This study will inform us about barriers women with disabilities may face when they go through mammography breast health screening, so the barriers may be addressed.

There is minimal risk involved in this study: people may feel some discomfort or stress because of the personal nature of this information.
All data is stored in a password protected electronic format. To protect your confidentiality, the surveys will not contain information that will personally identify you. The results of this study will be used for scholarly purposes only and may be shared with Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University representatives.
