Consultation - Draft statements on cultural competence, cultural safety, and hauora Māori

Council is consulting on two draft statements that set expectations for how doctors provide culturally competent and culturally safe care, and support equitable health outcomes.

Council invites feedback on two draft statements:

a. Cultural competence and cultural safety

b. Hauora Māori (Māori health and wellbeing)

We welcome your feedback to help ensure the statements are clear, reasonable and proportionate. These statements will replace the current 2019 Statement on cultural safety.

Consultation closes on Tuesday 24 March 2026.
