Butler County Emergency Management, in collaboration with the Kansas Forest Service and local partners, is developing a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) to better understand wildfire risk and identify actions that can help protect our communities, infrastructure, agriculture, businesses, and natural resources.

This effort is supported through the U.S. Forest Service Community Wildfire Defense Grant (CWDG) Program, which helps communities across the country strengthen wildfire preparedness, planning, and mitigation efforts.

Wildfire risk in Kansas continues to grow due to drought, high winds, grassland fuels, changing land use, and increased development in wildfire-prone areas.

Your feedback will help guide:
  • Wildfire mitigation and fuel reduction priorities
  • Emergency response and evacuation planning
  • Public education and preparedness efforts
  • Future grant funding opportunities
  • Community wildfire protection projects
