About the DTERBIM project and purpose of the survey
The DTERBIM project is developing openBIM-based digital solutions to support more circular, energy-efficient, and resource-efficient construction and renovation across Europe.
This survey explores current practices, challenges, digital maturity, collaboration, and innovation needs across the building lifecycle. Your insights will help ensure that the DTERBIM solutions reflect real industry needs and challenges. The survey findings will contribute to the development of practical digital tools, interoperable BIM workflows, and recommendations that support the transition to a more circular and efficient built environment.
The survey takes approximately 15–20 minutes to complete. We highly appreciate your time and effort.
Data privacy statement
Any personal information you choose to provide, such as your name or contact details, will be used only where necessary to follow up on your responses or to clarify information you have given. Providing personal information is voluntary and is not required to participate in the survey. Contact details are stored separately from survey responses, and responses are anonymised before analysis; any results published or shared will be presented in aggregate form and will not identify individual participants.
Personal data collected through this survey are processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) by BPIE on behalf of the DTERBIM partners. The DTERBIM partners jointly determine the purposes and essential means of this processing and therefore act as joint controllers following article 26 GDPR, on the basis of their legitimate interest in conducting the project's research.¹ You may object to the processing of your personal data at any time, and, where your objection is upheld and no overriding legitimate grounds for the processing exist, your identifying details will be deleted.

¹ This survey is conducted by the Buildings Performance Institute Europe ASBL (BPIE, Rue de la Science 23, 1040 Brussels, Belgium) within the project Driving Transformation on Energy-efficient and Circular Renovation through BIM (DTERBIM), funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe programme under Grant Agreement No 101235920, to gather stakeholder views informing the project's research on BIM-based, energy-efficient and circular renovation. The seventeen beneficiaries of the DTERBIM consortium, coordinated by Fundación CARTIF (Boecillo, Spain), act as joint controllers under a Joint Controllership Agreement pursuant to Article 26 GDPR; the essence of this arrangement is available on request from the Data Protection Officer named above. The legal basis for processing is the controllers' legitimate interest in carrying out the project's research and innovation activities (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR); you have the right to object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. The survey is hosted on SurveyMonkey with data stored exclusively within the European Union; no personal data are transferred outside the EU/EEA. Raw responses are accessible only to BPIE; other consortium partners and the European Commission receive aggregate, anonymised results only. Personal identifiers will be retained no longer than necessary for follow-up and will be deleted upon a substantiated objection and, in any event, by the end of the project (31 March 2029). Irrespective of the joint controllership arrangement, you may exercise your rights against any of the consortium partners, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular the Belgian Data Protection Authority (www.dataprotectionauthority.be) or the authority of your place of residence.
